IMVCA Format for Conferences and Trainings

Updates to our Spring Workshops and Annual Meeting post-COVID!
Before COVID, we found success of having two spring workshops to reach more districts and seasonal staff across the state. Post-COVID, the IMVCA Board has listened to membership and decided to have 1 spring workshop once again in a centralized location, when possible, to gather district managers and seasonal staff for support, collaboration, camaraderie, and to continue education and share relevant, scientific data to mosquito district personnel in Idaho.

Additionally, the Board has implemented the fall/winter annual conference again. We look forward to seeing you all at these meetings! ~Sincerely, The IMVCA BOARD

Goals of our Meetings & Trainings:
The IMVCA’s goal is to bring current and relevant information through a professional setting and engaging members through education in our state for collaboration.

The purpose of the IMVCA Fall/Winter Annual Conference is to gather new and experienced district managers, stakeholders, trustees, commissioners, state and local department officials, industry and IMVCA members and to review the past season and discuss and learn about issues, regulations, and educational topics local in Idaho or from the national mosquito and public health profession.

The purpose of the IMVCA Spring Workshops and other trainings are to gather field personnel and district managers to get hands-on training and educate on current IPM practices, mosquito biology, as well as share current information on mosquito control products, pesticide application methods and safety, and obtain CEU's for public health professional applicators whenever possible.

IPDES & NPDES

Idaho now has it's own primacy and the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality manages the IPDES PGP (Idaho Pollutant Discharge Elimination System, Pesticide General Permit). Please check out IDEQ's website for more information. www2.deq.idaho.gov/water/IPDES/Help?id=IPDESPermitHome

NPDES

On October 31, 2011, EPA issued a final NPDES Pesticide General Permit (PGP) for point source discharges from the application of pesticides to waters of the United States. This action was in response to a 2009 decision by the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals (National Cotton Council, et al. v. EPA) in which the court vacated EPA's 2006 Final Rule on Aquatic Pesticides and found that point source discharges of biological pesticides, and chemical pesticides that leave a residue, into waters of the U.S. were pollutants under the Clean Water Act (CWA). As a result of the court's decision, NPDES permits are generally required for these types of discharges as of October 31, 2011.  For all the latest on the NPDES, you can go to the EPA's website:
